Call for nominations
It is time to nominate yourself and/or others for positions on the Vestry. You might be wondering what a vestry member does and why you would want to be one.
The position is for 3 years and includes:
attending 11-12 Vestry meetings during the year (2nd Monday of the month)
attending a Vestry retreat (a Saturday in February)
attending any specially called Vestry meetings (there was one this past year)
contributing to these meetings by asking great questions, making suggestions, putting forth ideas, making presentations, voting, listening to others
leading a committee, which means calling meetings, setting goals, making a difference in an area of the church, reporting to the rest of the Vestry about this committee’s work
Why you would want to be on the Vestry:
to do your part to make this mostly volunteer church be brilliant
to get to know more about the church
to get to know other members better
to have more impact on an area of the church that you’re interested in
to hang out with really good-hearted people
The Vestry is undergoing some restructuring because of the visions and aspirations of our Action Plan. The following committees will need new Vestry representation. One is a new committee and all of the others are taking new dimensions from the Action Plan.
Adult Formation
Children’s and Youth Formation
Parish Life
Invitation (a new committee)
Welcoming/Connecting (formerly known as "Newcomers") -- one year position
Clerk (minute-taker) -- two year position
If one of these positions excites you, please fill out a form in the Parish Hall between now and Sunday, November 23 and place it in the Nomination box. The Nominating Committee will then assemble a slate of names for the annual meeting in January that the parish will confirm for the positions.
Any questions? Ask one of us. Thanks.
The Nominating Committee (Susan Gillette, Robert Gage, Tom Kingrey, Ann Kraker, Betsy Kelly, Mark Stahura, David Vaughan,)
