STATE FAIR & CREATIVE ART FAIR

As we wind the summer down and come back to get ready for school and work it's time to be thinking about your entry into the St. Clement's State Fair and Creative Arts event on SUN AUG 29.  Gather your canned goods, baked goods, sewing, quilts, animals, and especially your art made from recycled or discarded items to show in the third annual State Fair Sunday!  Set up for the event will be on SAT AUG 28, and the State Fair will be "open" all morning on the 29th.  Do you make costumes, birdhouses, corn art, or watercolors?  What about strawberry jam, lemon curd, cookies, biscuits, or pies?  Are you a flower arranger, scrapbooker, or photographer?  This is a chance to show your friends and fellow parishioners your "artful" side and have a great time doing so.  Entries from all ages are welcome.  We will continue the day with a Parish Picnic in the afternoon, complete with a Hmong-style barbecued pig, and potluck side dishes.  Games and activities will start on the Green at 3:00 PM.  The State Fair Sunday and Art Show is sponsored by the Power Grant committee, and is our final Power Grant event. LOAFS AND FISHES

Our next Loaves and Fishes meal will be FRI MAY 21.  St. Clement's is one of 215 churches that provide sit-down dinners to people of low income at six locations in the Twin Cities.  We prepare and serve meals the third Friday of odd-numbered months at Faith Lutheran Church, at Charles Avenue and Mackubin Street in St. Paul. We fund these meals through our annual parish budget.  Our parishioners prepare and serve the meals. You may sign up for either the first or second group.  The early group, the cooks, begins at 2:30 PM. The next group, the servers, arrives about 5:15 PM.  Food service continues till about 6:30 PM. Youth in ninth grade or older may assist with serving, and with parental supervision, children as young as eight may also help.  Please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it at 651-483-2831,  if you have any questions.  This is a good opportunity for you to get acquainted with other St. Clemites in a casual setting while performing a valuable ministry.
